I serve the kind of food I know the story behind. - Michael Pollan

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a partnership between the farm and its shareholders. Shareholders purchase a portion of the harvest and Twitter Creek invests the money in the seeds, supplies, and labor necessary to provide a fresh harvest of vegetables and herbs throughout the season. Main season distribution is weekly from June through the end of September.  Fall distribution continues for the month of October.

In addition to a hearty portion of fresh and nutritious vegetables, members will receive monthly newsletters containing updates from the farm and recipes for the harvest.  Members are strongly encouraged to visit the farm during the season to get a greater sense of where and how their food is grown.

For 2024 CSA shares, we will be using Farmigo, a CSA management software to help manage multiple choices for shares, allow options each week for customization, as well as payment plan choices. The shares available for 2024 are:

  • FULL SHARE (main season June-September): $605.00 - geared toward a family of 3-4 or a hearty vegetable eating pair

  • HALF SHARE (main season June-September): $450.00 - geared towards a family of two or a hearty vegetable eating one

  • FALL SHARE (Month of October): $215.00 - you can expect a lot of storage or fermenting crops with this share (also amazing eaten fresh, of course).

We are planning to begin share distribution in  mid-June. Shares will be distributed every Wednesday and be available for pick up after 4pm at the Homer Brewing Company, 1411 Lake Shore Drive. For communities across the bay, we can arrange a drop off point at K Bay Air for shipping to Nanwalak, Port Graham, and Seldovia.

We believe that eating fresh vegetables grown locally with intention, love, and intellect are not only good for us personally but good for the global community as a whole. Supporting the farm through the CSA model is a great way to stay healthy, stay connected to your food, and help build food security in our state.

It is important to note that a CSA membership does not guarantee a certain amount of produce per season. The model is set up to share the risks associated with farming between the farmers and the shareholders. With that in mind, we have yet to miss a share distribution in the eighteen years we’ve been offering CSA memberships.

At Twitter Creek Gardens, we are committed to closing the gap and ensuring local food accessibility to community members of all income levels.

This season, we are continuing the community fund to reserve CSA slots for low income families in Homer or families that have been impacted financially by the coronavirus crisis and in need of assistance.  Our goal is to work with local organizations to identify families in need and match shares to homes in a respectful and confidential manner.   We are also planning a weekly drop to both the Homer Community Food Pantry and Haven House, our local safe house for women and children.

If you have any ideas or contacts to aid in this endeavor, would like to donate to the fund, or are in need and would like to inquire about assistance, please let us know (twittercreekgardens@gmail.com).
